Initial Situation

In the demanding sector of meat processing in North America, operational efficiency and sanitary safety are crucial priorities. One of our clients, a major meat processor, approached us with a new ambitious challenge: to increase the productivity of the packaging area while reducing the manual handling of meat trays by operators to enhance food safety standards. This project required an innovative solution that would seamlessly integrate into the existing production line.

The specific work environment, characterized by cold and humid conditions, posed significant constraints in the choice of technologies. It was also essential that the equipment cleaning be simple and effective to meet the strict hygiene standards of this sector.

We intervened on two lines, connecting the loading station of empty plastic trays (2.5 kg) to the boxing robots at a speed of 2000 boxes/hour. Between these two stations, everything was done manually.

To ensure maximum efficiency and ease of cleaning, we installed the following technologies in the plant:

• A 48Volt motorized roller conveyor (MDR) system in stainless steel IP66, with Interroll's multi-control technology, for the transport and accumulation of empty boxes between the different zones,
• A 90-degree stainless steel Pop-Up transfer system to serve the various boxing robots,
• An automated arm opener system by Elten, which autonomously and smoothly opens the arms of the plastic trays.
