Modernizing to Perform: A High-Speed Bottling Line Optimized by Storcan

Modernizing to Perform: A High-Speed Bottling Line Optimized by Storcan

In today’s economic climate, every industrial investment must demonstrate a clear return. A major beverage manufacturer based in the Montreal area made the decision to modernize its production and packaging lines.

Their objective? Increase bottling speed, improve operational flexibility, and integrate new strategic equipment, including a pasteurizer, rinser, filler, and capper, and the entire conveyor system connected to the equipment.

To meet this challenge, the company turned to Storcan, a Quebec-based manufacturer of industrial conveyors and integrator of custom automation solutions for nearly 50 years. Our mission: design, manufacture, and implement a complete conveyor solution tailored to high-speed production constraints and a wide variety of formats, all while ensuring maximum reliability.

Storcan’s Technical Solution

Storcan delivered a turnkey beverage production line automation solution, including:

  • A Table Top conveyor system manufactured in our Châteauguay (Quebec) facility, ideal for high-speed transport of glass, plastic, or aluminum bottles.
  • A pressureless combiner, optimizing the transition from mass accumulation to smooth single-lane transport.
  • A 100% stainless steel frame, designed to resist corrosion—even in humid environments; a durable material that requires minimal maintenance over time.
  • Robust equipment incorporating essential accessories: dust covers, lubrication nozzles, photocells, emergency stop switches, etc., ensuring both line performance and safety.

The result: a line capable of handling multiple glass bottle formats at speeds of up to 350 containers per minute, with tool-free, fast, and simple format changeovers; a major advantage for agile production.

A Complete Turnkey Approach: From Engineering to Production

The project was carried out using our 360° integration approach, including:

  • Customized engineering: constraint analysis, CAD design, performance validation.
  • Local manufacturing: production and assembly in our Quebec workshops, with in-house functional testing.
  • On-site mechanical installation: performed by our experienced technicians.
  • Startup support and training: on-site assistance under real conditions for two weeks, including operator training for equipment use and maintenance.

Key Outcomes

  • Increased production capacity and reduced format changeover times
  • Improved ergonomics and maintenance access
  • Lower noise and reduced friction, thanks to low-wear conveyor materials
  • Project delivered on time and on budget, despite technical complexity and site constraints
