How to increase productivity on a meat crate palletizing line?
Initial situation:
Facing labor shortages and pressure on sanitary protocols, our client, a major pork processor in the United States, wanted to optimize their meat crate palletizing line by automating it to increase their production rate and feed more accurately their palletizing robots.
Storcan solution :
To do this, we have set up three production lines including accumulation conveyor systems with buffer zones – where the products never touch each other - making transport more fluid by automatically choosing which of the three lines the crate will go to and thus optimally feed the palletizing robots at the end of the line.
This solution speeds up production thanks to a rate of 45 cpm per line. We have combined several technologies, designed in our plant in Châteauguay, South Shore of Montreal or from our best suppliers, all integrated by our teams:
• 48V/50w Motorized Drive Roller conveyor with Interroll PolyVee belts and MultiControl Four-Zone system, the perfect and durable solution for transporting heavy containers in an optimal sanitary environment,
• Elevating and Lowerating conveyor type Grip Mat Top,
• Merge conveyor with motorized guide,
• Diverter module and transfer pop-up with motorized wheels that swivel, with a switching system, to automatically change direction of the boxes according to the size of the packaging thanks to a barcode recognition system.
Storcan supported the client throughout the duration of the project via our 360 Integration service including several services as project management, control and programming, commissioning, and production. We will continue to help this customer in the future, with our after-sales service department, by recommending a list of spare parts to optimize the maintenance of our solution.
Results:
The customer has a high-performance and efficient automated solution to bring his crates of pork to their various palletizing stations. It is now less dependent on the significant lack of labor in its sector, has improved its level of sanitary since human action has been considerably reduced and has gained in productivity.
